If you have called around for tyre fitting in Perth, you have probably seen prices anywhere from 0 to 45 AUD per wheel. Why the huge spread? Here is what is actually being charged for — and what should already be included.
What a proper tyre fitting includes
A complete fit should always cover:
1. Tyre dismount — old tyre off the rim
2. Rim inspection — checking for cracks, bends, corrosion
3. New valve stem — rubber valves perish; metal TPMS valves get resealed
4. Lubricant and bead seal — proper bead seating, no leaks
5. Tyre mount — new tyre fitted with no rim damage
6. Inflation to manufacturer PSI — checked against your placard
7. Dynamic balancing — weights added to eliminate vibration
8. Torque to spec — wheel nuts tightened with a calibrated torque wrench
9. Old tyre disposal — environmentally compliant recycling
If any of these are not included, you are either getting a cheap job or you will be hit with extras at pickup.

Hidden fees to watch for
- Disposal fee — should be included, not 5 to 10 AUD extra
- Valve stem fee — 4 to 8 AUD sometimes added at checkout
- TPMS reset — some shops charge 10 AUD per sensor; we do it free
- Nitrogen fill — usually 5 to 15 AUD per tyre, rarely worth it
- Run-flat surcharge — fair, but should be quoted upfront
How long does tyre fitting take?
- 2 tyres: 25 to 35 minutes
- 4 tyres: 40 to 60 minutes
- 4WD with bead-locks or 35 inch plus tyres: 75 to 90 minutes
- Add alignment: plus 30 to 45 minutes
